Viva la Revolution!

November 16, 2009

In the strange political atmosphere of the Obama aftermath; I often find myself wondering how exactly things are going to get better from the inside.  I personally don’t think that things will get better until there is a revolution and subsequent chaos and out of that chaos will come order and structure.  However, in discussing with a close friend about the order that would emerge from the chaotic rubble of a peoples revolution, he expressed concern that only people who are financially solvent now would be able to take control over the economy.  People like Warren Buffet and Jay Z, Ted Turner and Bill Gates.  The idea of this made my friend….we’ll call him Joe…..uncomfortable, but really if I had to take my chances with the government that we have now and someone like Buffet, I would take Buffet any day.  My resolve is this- at least I know that Buffet is benevolent!  Our government, no matter how democratic, has never been benevolent to us.  As a matter of fact they will sacrifice anyone for the good of the same government that is for us by us!  I would rather be under the leadership of a man who has consistently made money at the thing he knows best.  A man who has admitted when he was wrong in predicting the outcome of the futures for his corporations……no one expects for someone to always accurately predict the future profits of your business!  Buffet does, a majority of the time, properly manage the projections of his companies so that he’s not too short or long on profits.  I would love to have a man like that running our country into the ground!  Notice: I did say running our country into the ground because I believe that no one can turn this country around, I do believe that someone can steer the country to a not so devastating crash landing.

The politics of the Americas are completely devoid of benevolence towards anyone one who disagrees with certain viewpoints that make up popular consensus.  Having a new regime that isn’t about what’s popular but about getting a job done; about having one man that knows how to do one thing well which is running this country.  I would even go so far as to welcome a Jay Z who has in his career gone from rags to riches by starting out doing one thing extremely well and then slowly diversifying his portfolio, adding things little by little to create the empire that he has today.  I am not saying that we need to gear up the poles for President Z at this point but if we get to the point of dismantling the government I think we may need to start off a bit differently than we did before.  Yes, maybe we lose our constitution to a rap about the U.S. having 99 problems and a bitch ass government ain’t one.  Or maybe we have to replace the national anthem to a song that starts out with a crazy bass line but we will be privy to the kindnesses that have eluded us during our current government.  Are we ready for a revolution? I don’t know but people are calling for it….my only question is what’s next?
