Uncharted Territory

March 17, 2010

I have to share this with everybody. Saturday I got two incredible stories from complete strangers. The incidents occured about one hour apart, so I feel like I definitely to share the stories AND figure what the universe is trying to tell me!

This is exactly how they were told to me and I have no reason to suspect they were untrue.

“When I was 16 I had a baby which I gave up for adoption. As soon as I graduated from high school I moved to Alaska. In December of ’09 my biological daughter found me on FaceBook and we began to talk. My mom recently fell and hurt herself and she flew me down to Wilmington to help. At about the same time my bio daughter told me she lived in Raleigh, so tonight I’m going to go meet her and her family for the first time.”

Yep. I got that story cold turkey. I got goosebumps and then I teared up. I mean, after giving her mega points for having the baby and adopting her out to a great family, having the strength to meet her and pursue a relationship? That’s awesome!

“My college roommate and I married college roommates and as a result our foursome was inseparable. We settled down in the same small town and got pregnant about the same time. Tragically, two weeks before my friend delivered her baby, her husband was killed in a car accident. For years she refused to date, even though my dad would religiously handpick “suitors” for her in his little town. One day my dad called and swore this man was “the one.”

They met and went to dinner and have now been married for 28 years.”

That’s just a good light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel story.

So. What am I supposed to get out of all that?
