This is NOT Your Mom's Blog

No doubt, you have heard the joke; a wealthy man asks a woman ‘Will you have sex with me for a million dollars”. Her reply, “Of course” He then asks “What about for twenty dollars”. She answers indignantly “What kind of girl doe you think I am?” His statement, “We have already determined what you are, now we’re negotiating price.”

Most Americans have sold their soul for the cost of cheaper goods. We have watched our jobs move overseas. We have allowed our small businesses to wither away in favor of the big box cheaper price. Now, when we are being forced to deal with the reactions of our years of self-indulgence, we cry foul and wonder why our economy is in the toilet. We search for scapegoats and place blame on elected officials, illegal aliens or anyone else we can think of in the moment.

The reality is that just like a cheating spouse who has been caught paying a prostitute, we are trying to blame everyone or thing except ourselves. We, the American people, sold our soul for new shoes, cars, and other unnecessary tangible items. Now, my friend, we must put in the hard work and make the hard choices to repair our marriage to the economy. Things are a flashy and fun mistress, but our economy is a marriage we cannot afford to divorce.
