I’ve read that there are people who believe Barack Obama is a Communist, including one who writes for this blog. I think it’s very likely that the person who wrote that couldn’t tell you what it means. Seriously, what’s Communism, besides an insult? Would you know it if you saw it? Which isn’t likely, since there isn’t very much of it around these days. Seriously, if you think Obama’s practicing Communism, there’s a bridge I can let you have, cheap. The USSR, where it all started, the biggest and longest-lived Communist country, has been gone for awhile now. Most of the other states with one political party dedicated to some form of Communism have reformed their system to make it more like capitalism (China and Vietnam for sure). No, it’s not entirely gone (Colombia and Chavez), but the old-style revolutionaries are pretty far away from us and it’s hardly like Russia in 1917. If you’re really worried, though, stay away from Bangladesh and the Philippines.
But if you think you might’ve seen it, here’s what it is, so you’ll know for sure:
1. theory advocating elimination of private property
2. a system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed

If that doesn’t quite do it, here’s a little bit of Karl Marx (as in Marxism): “class society breeds alienation”—by which he meant that the working class have fewer chances (because they’re working class) to earn more and/or get good jobs. Marx also says that it fulfils a basic human need to have satisfying work and a share of the resulting product, and that goes for everyone (think of the idle rich). His plan was that the workers control the means of production (i.e., factory laborers run the factory themselves), and a revolution of the working class brings about a society in which everyone lives, as the saying goes, “from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.” Everyone has a vote, everyone gets to do the work s/he wants to do, and there won’t be any hunger or oppression because everyone will be happy and productive and call each other Comrade and not feel like oppressing anyone.
What’s Obama done that’s the least bit Marxist? Is he abolishing anyone’s right to inherit? Doing away with your right to own your personal possessions? Making Donald Trump open his doors to the homeless? That health care program seems to scare more than a few people into screaming “Communism!” I don’t know why. Lots of politicians, Democrats and Republicans both, have talked up a National Health Service for lots of years, suggesting we get with most of the other First-World countries that way. Medicare and Medicaid were started in 1965, and they’re both forms of national health insurance. Was LBJ a communist? That would’ve been pretty rich, since he had us pretty invested in fighting communism in Southeast Asia.
Would a Communist bail out the megabanks? Sure, there were some Congressional hearings, but if any of the bankers got a smack with a ruler it didn’t make the tabloids.
Think about this: the top 400 richest Americans have a combined wealth of more than $1.3 TRILLION. The richest 1% of Americans earns more than the bottom 50%. In 1973, the top 1% of earners collected 8% of the national income; by 2006 it was almost 23%. That’s a hell of a lot of money concentrated in the hands of a very small group. There’s also a very big gap growing between that group and the underclass. Historically, that tends to mean things get really bad for everyone.
So this handful of bankers gets bailed out, after running the US off the rails and shaking up the rest of the world as well. Goldman Sachs made a pile for themselves helping the Greek government hide their debt, and there’s nothing to stop them from doing more of the same. They can spend the bailout cash redecorating and so what. Would a Communist think that was OK? Someone who was into a classless society and the redistribution of wealth?
Obama’s not even as much of a left-leaner as that radical FDR, and it would be a great time to be one of those because we’re in the worst recession since the Great Depression of Franklin Roosevelt’s era. with the joblessness to match. FDR started the WPA, which created government programs with jobs for people to work all over the country and accomplish some enormous projects, like bringing electricity to the rural South. There are a few dorms on the campus of my alma mater that were built by the WPA—probably a lot of cities around the country can point out something from that time. There were lots and lots of ways the WPA got people working. It was work, not a “handout”, and it ended the Depression. Obama’s not proposing another WPA and that program was farther to the left than anything he’s done so far!
Anyway, if there had been any VALIDATED evidence that he has anti-American beliefs, he wouldn’t have been sworn in as President. I’m talking for-real, proven, no BS evidence that he plans to overthrow the government, not some spew off a web site that wants everyone to believe he was born in a foreign country (that has been disproved so often it’s just tired), so if you’re insisting he’s really African or Chinese or something you probably think the moon landings were fakes and Elvis is flipping burgers on the late shift.
Remember the system of checks and balances? Did you learn this in high school? Then you remember, the President is the top elected person, the Chief Justice of the Supremes is the top Judicial Person, and the President is sworn in by the Chief Justice. The Presidential Oath is required by the Constitution. If there had been absolute proof (again, VALIDATED proof) that this man was an enemy of the American people, Justice Roberts would not have administered the oath.
Personal beliefs are a little bit different. That’s something protected by the 1st Amendment. But there’s not really any evidence the President has personal Marxist beliefs. Sure, he’s studied with some Marxist teachers, but as the actor MacLean Stevenson (Col. Blake on MASH) once said, if teachers made that kind of impact “I would have grown up to be a nun.”
It’s a free country. You want to believe the President is a Commie, it’s your right. It doesn’t make any sense, but feel free.
Sorry Ruthless, but I can define communism , not by a few antiseptic words in a dictionary but by the results it has achieved every time and everywhere in the world it was imposed.
That one word is ………. FAILURE.
Below are just a few of the myriad reasons it never worked for long in the past, and never will work as a permanent economic system, and certainly not here in the USA no matter how close Obama and his Czars try to push us into it. Hell, even a watered down version of communism, like socialism, that takes control of the means of production but not all personal property doesn’t work.
The death spiral we are now witnessing of the European socialist experiment is a fine example of my point. In addition, Americans are a different breed, our personal freedom will not be handed over to the state.
I have other words to define communism, they relate to what it does to a society, and explains why it can’t work for long, but the dictionary doesn’t go into these aspects of what a communistic system accomplishes in an advanced industrialized nation like ours that has benefited by and was built by a well regulated Capitalistic economic system operating within a Republic.

Tom, do you understand anything you read? Or do you just start typing? I explained what an actual Communist would do in Obama’s position, and he’s not doing anything of the kind. FDR and LBJ were radical lefties next to him. Tom, you carry on about what a big old Commie Barack Obama is and you can’t name one thing that he’s done that qualifies him as a Marxist, Leninist, Trotskyist, or any kind of socialist, and I’ve given a load of support to my arguments. To Obama the Constitution is an albatros around his neck, his plan to deal with it is to operate through his 18 Czars to bypass our weak legislators and seed the Supreme Court with as many lefties as he can, which will soon make it not so supreme. As he slowly amasses power we will get to know more about him. We certainly couldn’t find out much about him befor he was elected.

We know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado .. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington , DC , filled to capacity by many of America ‘s finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, ‘Mexifornia,’ explaining how immigration – both legal and illegal was destroying the entire state of California . He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream.
Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America
The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States . He said, ‘If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let’s destroy America . It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that ‘An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.”
‘Here is how they do it,’ Lamm said:
‘First, to destroy America , turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country… History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: ‘The apparent success of our own multi-ethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentricy and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together.’ Lamm said, ‘I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities.’
‘Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school.’
‘My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of ‘Victimology…’ I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority plation.’
‘My sixth plan for America ‘s downfall would include dual citizenship, and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally he said, ‘Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis’s book ‘Mexifornia.’ His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America .. If you feel America deserves to be destroyed, don’t read that book.’
There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today. Discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Even barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate ‘diversity.’ American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in America Take note of California and other states. To date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast. It is reminiscent of George Orwell’s book ’1984..’ In that story, three slogans are engraved in the Ministry of Truth building: ‘War is peace,’ ‘Freedom is slavery,’ and ‘Ignorance is strength..’
Governor Lamm walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast. If we don’t get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream.

Tom, the statistics don’t support that. The Arizona border is packed with officers. Since our economy tanked, the Mexicans aren’t so interested in coming, anyway. And you know what, if American businesses didn’t HIRE the illegals, they wouldn’t have any reason to come at all, now would they?

California has an immigrant for a Governor, dude!!! And for many years, the California-Mexican border was a pretty fluid thing. People came and went, were born on either side, and there wasn’t much ado about it. You can look it up. I know from personal experience, having had a Chicano roommate from LA with this situation.
I also take exception to these remarks about immigrants, legal and otherwise, destroying California. My paternal grandparents emigrated to California. For that matter, all of us who aren’t American Indians are immigrants or their descendants.

Yeah, everybody should be the same. Who gets to decide what that is? It’s like with prayer in schools. Why does that somehow turn into Christian Protestant prayer in schools? Tom, YOU don’t get to decide. That is most definitely not the American Way.

Let’s have a little history here.
In 2007–who was President in 2007? Hint: not Barack Obama!!–GM and Chrysler declared bankruptcy. The UAW stepped in and made a deal. The union would take over pensioners’ healthcare from the carmakers in exchange for a big chunk of shares in both companies. The deal was accepted. You don’t have to like it, you can reasonably argue that there are conflicts of interest, but no one held a gun to anyone’s head, the companies got something in exchange for their shares (they wouldn’t have gotten anything if the companies had gone under), and Obama was–still a Senator.

The UAW has a lot of shares in both companies (overseen by an independent 3rd party, but of course the union now has board seats) because of that deal made in 2007. Pre-Obama. Are these just the words of a few extremists? Consider that we could fill up many pages with such quotes. Also, consider that these are mainstream Mexican leaders.
THE U.S. VS MEXICO:
On February 15, 1998, the U.S. and Mexican soccer teams met at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Mexican even though most lived in this country. They booed during the National Anthem and U.S. flags were held upside down. As the match progressed, supporters of the U.S. team were insulted, pelted with projectiles, punched and spat upon. Beer and trash were thrown at the U.S. players before and after the match. The coach of the U.S. team, Steve Sampson said, “This was the most painful experience I have ever had in this profession.”
Did you know that immigrants from Mexico and other non-European countries can come to this country and get preferences in jobs, education, and government contracts? It’s called affirmative action or racial privilege. The Emperor of Japan or the President of Mexico could migrate here and immediately be eligible for special rights unavailable for Americans of European descent. Recently, a vote was taken in the U.S. Congress to end this practice. It was defeated. Every single Democratic senator except Ernest Hollings voted to maintain special privileges for Hispanic, Asian and African immigrants. They were joined by thirteen Republicans. Bill Clinton and Al Gore have repeatedly stated that they believe that massive immigration from countries like Mexico is good.
They have also backed special privileges for these immigrants.
Corporate America has signed on to the idea that minorities and third world immigrants should get special, privileged status. Some examples are Exxon, Texaco, Merrill Lynch, Boeing, Paine Weber, Starbucks and many more.

Did you know that Mexico regularly intercedes on the side of the defense in criminal cases involving Mexican nationals? Did you know that Mexico has NEVER extradited a Mexican national accused of murder in the U.S. in spite of agreements to do so? According to the L.A. Times, Orange County, California is home to 275 gangs with 17,000 members; 98% of which are Mexican and Asian. How’s your county doing?
According to a New York Times article dated May 19, 1994, 20 years after the great influx of legal immigrants from Southeast Asia, 30% are still on welfare compared to 8% of households nationwide. A Wall Street Journal editorial dated December 5, 1994 quotes law enforcement officials as stating that Asian mobsters are the “greatest criminal challenge the country faces.” Not bad for a group that is still under 5% of the population.
Is education important to you? Here are the words of a teacher who spent over 20 years in the Los Angeles School system. “Imagine teachers in classes containing 30-40 students of widely varying attention spans and motivation, many of whom aren’t fluent in English. Educators seek learning materials likely to reach the majority of students and that means fewer words and math problems and more pictures and multicultural references.”
WHEN I WAS YOUNG:
When I was young, I remember hearing about the immigrants that came through Ellis Island. They wanted to learn English. They wanted to breathe free. They wanted to become Americans. Now too many immigrants come here with demands. They demand to be taught in their own language. They demand special privileges–affirmative action. They demand ethnic studies that glorify their culture.

America is Not a 50/50 Nation
Don’t be fooled by polls or other ‘ratings’ that show Obama still receiving 42%-44% approval among the American people. If 65%-70% of the American people support the Arizona immigration law—and polls consistently show that they do—65%-70% of the American people do not approve of Obama. Talking-head gibberish ‘explanations’ about the nuances involved in disagreeing on one issue while still supporting Obama overall are just that, gibberish. Americans’ approval of the Arizona law is not passive or lukewarm, and it is not narrow. It is a ‘damn right!” and “it’s about time!” feeling that covers many more topics than just border security, and it is absolutely a proxy for Americans’ increasing rejection of Obama and everything he is doing. As we’ve written extensively, the Arizona immigration law has crystallized for more and more people a basic question about who in the world is this President?
So don’t believe the next elitist who rolls out the standard lament about intractable problems and impossible-to-find solutions in a 50/50 nation. This is nothing but a liberal tactic designed to douse the fire of conservatism that is sweeping the country, and get spineless D.C. Republicans to return to ‘bipartisan’, reach-across-the-aisle accommodation to the leftist agenda. We aren’t a 50/50 nation; in fact, we’re approaching a 70/30 nation, which may actually be more unified than at any time since World War II. And it is a unity built around confidence in the core rightness of the ideals captured in America’s founding documents—a confidence deeply shared by most Americans without regard to party affiliation.
There’s a major, and for Obama, very ominous, implication in all this: a 70/30 nation has within itself the power to remove this fraudulent administration, including the President. The House and Senate will bow to the will of the people eventually. The people are making their will known in record numbers using an unprecedented number of methods, but the tsunami of American opinion that would like to see this fraudulent President removed from office NOW hasn’t yet penetrated the Beltway’s mesmerized state of thought.
Congressmen and Senators who return to home districts and states know full well how angry their constituents have become over an out-of-control, unaccountable government pursuing an agenda that was never made clear to the voters, much less endorsed. The insular D.C. media has so far been able to dilute Congress’ resolve to act in accordance with the wishes of the people. Democrat Party loyalty is still holding (though hanging by a thread), and that has been enough to keep Obama propped up. But Obama’s actions on so many fronts have been so far out of step with the American spirit and way of life that we believe the party loyalty thread is about ready to snap. When it does, the undiluted power of the 70/30 reality will materialize in a hurry, and Obama will face hostility and opposition on a scale he doesn’t comprehend and will not be able to defeat or deflect.
The leftists think they can hold it all together with a combination of orchestrated public appearances and message control and coordination among the Pravda media. But this page from the playbook of the past is not enough anymore. Truth has a way of breaking through these schemes, and lies have a way of collapsing on themselves and those who spread them.
Obama and his cabal have lied about their ‘laser-like’ focus on jobs; they have lied about their commitment to fiscal/budgetary responsibility and lower taxes; they have lied about their commitment to transparency in law-making; they have lied about their foreign and domestic alliances and sympathies; they have lied about their response to the oil spill; they have lied about the Arizona immigration law. And that’s not even close to a complete list.
This regime really is, in its entirety, an imposition on America—an excessive and uncalled for burden that America did not seek and does not want. Americans want the regime removed from office. They will make this known in elections of course, but we think they will demand more, and sooner. The 70% have had enough, and Washington, D.C., is very close to getting the message. When Democrat Party loyalty finally snaps—and we think it will happen in the next 2-3 months as more and more Democrat office holders see themselves about to get sent packing in November—the entire political dynamic could turn radically against Obama and the whole regime.
Can’t happen soon enough. We are not a 50/50 nation, and we need to stop accepting the paralysis that comes from the bogus belief that we are. Americans are united as never before in their desire for a return to the America of the founding, and they can make it happen sooner than any politician or pundit believes possible.
