Mock if you will—at least other nations across the world have a shared history. I have thought long and hard about this and I have come to a resounding conclusion. We have failed as Americans.

Being the single girl in the city, I often wonder about the significant and definitive lines that people draw in relationships despite the progression of time. While I do believe in the two quintessential archetypes of the modern relationship, which is the hunter gatherer-man and then the nurturer grower-woman, I also believe as long as the two types exist in a relationship it doesn’t matter who fills the roll. Relationships have changed so much in the last decade. We see significantly more interracial and gay relationships, and I venture to say that in the south we need to catch up to the times. We need to embrace change because let’s face it, the cookie cutter same race/man-woman relationships are quickly becoming a thing of the past.
