Ya’ll Fools Need Jesus

Religion

There has to be some good on TV somewhere… Where is Jesus? Shit is Getting Hectic…. The Steelers lost Sunday nite and the Panthers lost on Monday… What else is on the TV today? Kids getting killed, women getting raped, drugs being sold, divorces being finalized, killers being freed and rapists getting off—and not in a sexual way.

Golfing for God

Religion

I believe in God. Rather, some form of a higher being. I do not believe he is some white dude with a long flowing Santa beard. My theory on God is that he views his creation – yes, I do believe it was 6 actual days, and yes, that it was created not evolved…although that gets murky for me – anyway, I think God views his creation as I view my fish tanks. They are great fun to watch. I have favorites in each tank. Some I will watch die without much of a thought beyond the thoughts of a new fish. Some I will painstakingly try to save. It’s still a fun hobby. I believe we are God’s hobby, the same.

Out with the old, in with the new

Religion

As I sit in my flat thinking about the upcoming New Year, September 18th, I have been extremely excited about what the New Year means for me and my Jewish mish’paca îשׂפּëאָ (Hebrew word for family). The reflecting on and confessing of one’s sins in order to wipe the slate clean for the upcoming New Year, always, for Jews go hand in hand. I love this High Holy Day, along with its traditions, so much it always gives me hope that after my name goes in the book for one more year so do my hopes and dreams. I live everyday for the hope that I am living the one life that I’ve got to the fullest. However, when one is in and out of relationships, one tends to get jaded and subsequently schleps the baggage from one relationship into the next. In the Jewish tradition of forgiving the debts of all who owe you and paying the debts of all you owe, I always wonder, “In a perfect world, what would happen if we translated this into our relationships?”
